Ron Kuna is a rum produced at the bridge between North and South America: Panama. This artisanal rum is produced by Varela Hermanos, whose family has been crafting Rum since 1908, when the company’s founder, Don Jose Varela Blanco, opened a sugar mill in the town of Pese. Ron Kuna is an 8 year aged rum that is a unique blend of rum-making traditions. During the Panamanian Dry Season (from December through April), freshly-pressed sugar cane juice is fermented and then distilled before being placed in used Bourbon oak barrels for aging. During the wetter months Varela uses a combination of pressed cane juice and molasses for the fermentation base.
