(fermented for two years in barriques, ultimately finishing with 6% alcohol and about 400 g/l r.s., and was bottled in the spring of 2006!) Deep, bright gold. Compelling aromas of nutmeats, honey and marzipan liqueur (Amaretto di Saronno?). Unctuous and glyceral-rich, with a honeyed sweetness that must be tasted to be believed. And yet vibrant acids somehow prevent this elixir from cloying. Saline and extremely thick wine, with finishing flavors of honey and caramel. I had the feeling the finish would last until the next wine, whether that was two minutes or two hours later. For those of you keeping score at home, this wine is 40% sugar.
