Altavins is a small winery founded by Joan Arrufi in 2001 and located within the D.O. Terra Alta. Joan takes the utmost care when working with the grapes so that he may capture all their virtues and, with minimum intervention, he harnesses their potential, always seeking to obtain excellence in his wines and to extract the essence of this area with them.
Garnacha Peluda, or “Hairy Grenache,” is a lesser-known clone of Grenache (Garnacha) primarily found in Spain and southern France. It gets its name from the fine fuzz or “hair” on the underside of its leaves, which helps it retain moisture and withstand hot, dry climates.
Notes
A vibrant ruby-red hue with subtle violet reflections. Enticing aromas of fresh, juicy forest fruits like raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries, complemented by delicate hints of game and spice. The palate is lively and crisp, boasting well-balanced acidity and exceptionally smooth, silky tannins.
